I think his post was rather politely penned.

But I do have one caveat. I have voiced opinion before and I will do it again now, that I am NOT a big fan of naming and shaming. I didn't see that post in that light.

Lets see what Raymond says. Somehow the truth always outs on these things.

I have just insured a 2003 Disco TD5 and a 2009 130 Defender through Tuff Stuff. Very happy with how it was handled. It was not much more than Outsurance ,who actually have looked after us well ,but cannot offer what Tuff Stuff can.

I agree, but good business sense and even common courtesy dictate that Tuffstuff ought to have said why the underwriter declined cover - it's called transparency...

When I asked they came back saying the vehicle was too old.

    They must have a reason.

Odd, I has my 1978 Series 3 insured with them..... It was just 3rd party and theft though, and was part of a bigger portfolio.

I understand that the underwriter can turn me down for whatever reason they want - the point i am trying to make is that it would be nice to get more of a reason than the underwriter has turned me down. I also understand that they are just the broker and possibly cannot do anything about it. I am just surprised at the curt response.

Perhaps a few more reasons would enable me to make other decisions about my vehicles but a refusal as I have been given does not help me at all. Tell me if my vehicles are too old or the make makes them too risky or whatever.
Pumba Iím with you on this one. Never did you badmouth TS, you said that you are disipointed in the reply and confused as to why you are diclined. So Iím not sure what most people are on about and why they trying to defend TS.

TS have the full right to decline as they did, all you need to know is why.

And that is what your post was about.

    Definitely fair.

If a customer bring an issue into public domain, you're perfectly entitled as a company to share any relevant information in your response.

So i decide it is time to get a competetive quote to make sure I am paying the correct rates.

So I send a request for a quote to Tuff Stuff and this is the simple response I get Good day Mr.Nelson,

"Please be advise that we havereferred your proposal for a quotation to the underwriter.

Regrettably the underwriter hasinformed us that they are unable to provide us with a quotation on therequested risk. "

    No reasons just that.

Go figure and quite disappointing not to be given a reason. In the last 3 years the only thing I have claimed are windscreens and about 8 years ago I was recovered in one of my Defenders from Moz . No accidents, no thefts nothing. Quite confusing really

Guess I stick with my existing guys ................
Must say, on reflection, that response from Tuff Stuff is very unprofessional.

I refer in particular to the following from the "quoted text" - havereferred - hasinformed - therequested.

If that was my staff, using a modern computer and modern software to compose that reply, I would have a Sheet fit.

Please remember that by screening their prospective policies and reducing unnecessary risk, we all win.

If they don't we will all subsidize the high risk claims.

Great insurance and back up at a fair price.

Or they just load the premiums and conditions to match the risk.
