Default Best way to sell a car

I need some advice on the best way to sell a car. I can go to the dealers, but they take a major cut. Some one mentioned Webuycars, but they are even more ridiculous. And to do it private, well then there are a lot of skelms lurking around. I need to sell my sons car, he is settling in London, and would like the best deal to maybe buy a property.

Sold 6 vehicles(kids and mine) in the last 8 years on Gumtree - no problems if you are careful.

Just sold my daughter's car to Petri on the forum.

I trust him. He is a dealer.

    What kind of car?

If it's a cheapie, Gumtree is quite safe IF you are careful.

If it's something over say R100K, you could get more privately but the more expensive the car the harder to sell. People wanting R500K cars don't look on Gumtree, they tend to buy from dealers for the peace of mind and the warranties that comes with it.

Agree with Johan - he of restaurant fame -
I have sold 2 vehicles via the forum - the most recent being my Puma, for which I got full asking price -
Gumtree - I am wary, but if you are careful, it works
    Good luck

You'll struggle to shift that on Gumtree.

Most people will need finance, and those who don't will likely bargain you down.

I've never sold anything over R200K via Gumtree.

Unless you know someone in the market, your best bet is to sell to a dealer. But know that he will make as much profit off it as he can. Not because he's a bad person, but because it's a business.
