That gate is now permanently closed so you only have two options:

    1. Turn right from Nxai Pan entrance gate and drive for about 9kms and enter via Phududu Gate, or
    2. Continue down and turn left onto B300 and take the tar. This way you will have to take the Khumaga Ferry to get into the park.

Honestly, option 1 is much better and the sand is not bad other than for one section of about 2kms which is 10kms before you reach Khumaga. You would have come down from South Camp to the Nxai Pan entrance which is a far worse road.

Did this route Kumaga - Nxai Pan South Camp (all sand road) last year towing. Deep sand in places fro about 5km but went fine with momentum.

Tobie, are you leaving on the 24th then?

I will keep looking for info on Gweta's fuel station. It will be great if that can get up and running again.

I spoke to the guys at Gweta Lodge. There is a fuel station, but supply is erratic. They say 50/50 that you will get fuel when you arrive, but if you are willing to wait , it is usually resupplied within a day or so.

Thanks drdpot, small straw at least.

I will check with Planet Boabab closer to the time, we will probably overnight there on our way in will not be in need of any diesel then. Just for the outbound leg, diesel at Gweta would be nice.

I can confirm that that road is sandy,

Oh and I have learned that you should measure travelling in distance in Botswana You measure it in time travelled. A good average is 25kpa

Hi, are you referring to the track to Nxai pan or the track in MGNP next to the river from Phuhududu gate to Khumaga or both?

I am keeping in eye out on updates of the Nxai pan track, less than 6 weeks to go before our trip. 8) Know it is very sandy, question is just which one of the 2 tracks are best.
