Although hot long sticky sweaty hot and humid I think the day was a success, and hope that everybody who participated was at least able to learn something.

One of the very first obstacles was a clear grade 5, and it was aptly named Van Zyl's Pass, and it is enough to stop the faint of heart right there in their tracks. Here the drivers experienced the value of trusting the person in front showing them, and a excellent job was done by the boys.

A few were possible apprehensive about going down there, but made it without any real big fuss! Here my own wife impressed me immensely, I was at the bottom getting some pics done, she decided to move the datsun forward for me, then sommer promptly decided that she is going to drive down there, with the guidance of Sakkie and Herman. Not shortly later and Andre's wife Vicky also decided to show the manne that it was a walk in the park.

I have plenty of photos, will resize and post them in a gallery on Tuesday when I am back at home. We also have to pro HD video cameras there, and will start working on a DVD release of the day, but that will take quite a few weeks to produce still.

In the end, Herman and Uys did a fantastic job, and I don't think they realise how well organised everything was, well done!!!

Will try and do a more comprehensive report later in the week.

    Default Hennops Pride Training weekend

The weekend came and the weekend is over. Everybody went home except those that missed the "Groot Trek" 2 centuries ago (Ha-ha). It seems the camping and training went off well and already a second similar weekend is called for. Here are some photos:

    Gert.

    Default Sakkie making us proud!

As a matter of interest. The two vehicles on the background of the "Stall/Start discussion" pic was there on their own , not with our group. They proceeded to "Van Zyl's Pass", a Bona Fide grade 5 obsticle, and got stuck in a really dangerous situation. Luckily for them, our own recovery expert, Sakkie, rushed to their aid, and safely recovered the vehicle, showing them the need for training! Thanx Sakkie, for keeping our name high! (You should have seen the pleasure expression on his face when he saw somebody to recover!)

Dankie vir 'n baie interessante ane leersame dag.

Lekker gekuier Saterdag aand.

What a fantastic event. To Herman and all the trainers "Well Done". And a special thanks to Uys who was our group leader.
What I found most impressive was the quality of Herman's presentation, together with the very meaningful contributions by the training team throughout the lecture. Uys, Christo, Andre, Sakkie, Johan well done.
Best of all tho was meeting and getting to know everyone.

I was also able to contribute, as being a soutie, I was able to assist those who were struggling to braai their meat. ...

Can I also just add a special thank you to all the people who made this day a huge success. The amount of preparation that went into this was clearly evident, the wealth of knowledge that was selflessly shared is appreciated, the spirit in which everybody participated was amazing.

So to Uys, Herman, Christo, Sakkie & Johan take a bow.

Will be watching this space for the next one.
