    Default Calling T4A Experts... HELP

    Hi Guys,

I think i might be really simple and lacking in the IQ department perhaps, but I have absolutely no idea how to plot a trip on T4A in Botswana. How do you enter one point to the next and get the distances and time travel etc?

    Does T4A offer this?

I am trying to plan a trip and route for 2018 through Botswana with the family. Google maps only takes you so far, but I want to check travel times and distances in Bots parks, for instance, from Rakops to Matswere Gate. then Matswere gate to Sunday or Kori or Piper etc. Cant seem to figure it out.

    Any help/tips and advice appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Don

If on a PC or Laptop I find it easier to use Basecamp and then transfer the routes to the GPS.

I also plan on the PC and download the routes to the GPS. I use MapSource and don't know BaseCamp but I guess they do the same thing.

You create routes by using the route tool (3 dots) right of the green flag. You can make them as long or short as you wish, my old Garmin 276C can accept 50 routes. Once finished with one, save and close and open the file to start a following route. Zoom in and out for detail.

You can do it on any mapset activated, however if you jump between different versions of T4A or other maps you may get issues if you do it in the same route. This 2014 version of T4A is easier to follow on the map than the later 2016 I also have. Here is actually very nice routes for 2 trips, pink and yellow from Pretoria to the south and north of Namibia and back via Botswana on the northern one. No difficult 4x4 or places like Van Zyl's and easy doable in a softroader or 4x2 SUV or bakkie.

Has never done it on the GPS, there I go to NAV and use GO TO.
