Well I for one won't be afraid to ask these questions. I'm completely new to the world of practical 4x4 and whilst I understand quite a bit of the theory I still basically have almost no idea and certainly no practical experience.

I'm going to do a 4x4 course over the weekend and have joined a 4x4 club as I consider both important for me to learn and grow but I also seek the opinions of others who have more knowledge than myself via any medium available. Reading through responses to questions others have asked that I may have myself is often helpful, sometime frustrating but ultimately enjoyable and one of the main reasons that I joined the forums in the first place.

Hi still here, been working for a change. Getting ready to go play on the farm near Morgan Bay next week, plenty accommodation available, join me we can talk over a beer, bring the family. Always more fun playing with more than one vehicle. Need help to clear a few branches in the drifts on my trails and I need to setup my adjustable pajero shocks, I just can't find the sweet spot. too much body roll on the twistes.

I stick by what I said. The more you understand your vehicle the more you will enjoy it.

Join a club and get trained and you will enjoy this forum more.

In a land full of Toyotas, the Patrol is King. Out of my 7 4x4's one is a Mitsubishi Pajero by default.

Statements like this on a 4x4 forum, just shows you do need training to understand your vehicle better??

    Pretty sure it was tic...

I agree that joining a club/training is a good idea.

However, some don't live in areas where these opportunities are freely available without having to travel some distance...

Also, sometimes things crop up that you weren't taught/forgot on a course.

But mostly I think the forum is a platform where like minded people (like Fluffy & Jelo) can comunicate in a (mostly) relaxed manner. It doesn't really matter if some of the topics have been covered a 100 times before , it still relates to a passion we all share - irrespective of the brand we support.

Few of us can 4x4/overland as often as we would like. So clocking in here and chewing the fat is a means of keeping the passion alive.

At least for me it is.

Maybe the more appropriate approach is to do a quick search on the forum to see if your particular problem hasn't been addressed and resolved before.

That being said, there are so many variables in play e.g. someone had a similar problem with his TD5 and it was resolved but my 2.8i requires a different solution. Then I ask for help.

As far as safety is concerned, I would prefer 1000 threads on why you shouldn't do towball recoveries if it saves 1 life.

OP, me thinks you asked the wrong question

Nothing wrong with asking a questions or guidance, but arguing with and ignoring every possible answer or bit of advice you get...........THAT is a problem

There is actually a brilliant example of that type of thread at the moment......
