I guess it depends on how you approach the issue.
First, you can say that it is in fact, a stroke of genius, because if the Bill is a dud, the public had direct input and it's their fault as much as Govt.
Secondly, you can say that the Author/s are morons and this is no less than could be expected from that shower of imbeciles.

And that's how they hook you. Once the data base has been built there's nothing preventing them from increasing that fee substancially...

Unfortunately I don't trust this. In the back of my mind there's the issue of free education that must be paid for in some way.... Never mind SAA, Eskom etc.

Yea, right. Like there are thousands of unregistered firearms and no-one can do anything about it to. My 900W gennie is a lawnmower, and my 12KVA is a wannabee helicopter with a wooden propeller on top of it.

As an Engineer I look at this from an Engineers perspective. I understand the need to have a grid-tied system installed correctly. But to regulate/register your Green energy so they can know where they are loosing out... surely Eskom first need to look and sort out the informal user who creates spiderwebs of flex cable that the sun cannot even shine through!

But what you are all not asking is 'how to register'.
I was reading a paper from the City of Cape Town about 2 years ago. To register, amongst other requirements, you need your system designed by an Electrical Engineer, replace your meter etc. This all at a huge cost.
