Default Netstar install and interior dimming switch.

I got my new Supercab XL last week. Pretty happy with it so far!

Yesterday Netstar came and installed the tracking device (required by our insurance). Now they've obviously taken power of the interior light dimming switch or something because every time I start the bakkie now "Dimming" comes up on the display, as if I was pushing the dim/light buttons for the dash light brightness.

Would this annoy you? It kinda irritates me. I dunno wether I should get them to come and sort it out or just live with it.

Get them to sort it out. Reason/s being that your vehicle is not the way it was before (I know this sounds pedantic....), but even worse: the 'dimming' may be as a result of an electrical short circuit caused by the installation, which in turn may create further issues.

Would be wonderful if their customer care line worked.

Would be even better if their EMERGENCY line worked!!

In short, don't use Netstar. Bloody useless.

I know when I got my Bakkie at Ford last year they recommended one of these tracking units where the actual unit was self powered with batteries so there was no cutting of wires.

i liked this idea but had to go with Tuff Stuffs choice

The Netstar unit has a high chance of draining your battery as well.

Splicing into various obscure power sources on a new CANBUS vehicle is NOT the approved method.

I'd have some harsh words for Netstar AND my insurance company.

Go Beame, it's cheap and Insurance is happy.

If they want to steal your truck they will, not tracker is going to deter them.

I now have Beame in both vehicles and @R80 a pop it doesn't break the bank.

Default Netstar install and interior dimming switch.

The dimming refers to the brightness of the interior button, cluster etc lights. It just sets them according to the level of outside light.

The buttons you press to dim just adjusts the brightness of those lights when they need to be fully on, ie. with your headlights on.

Those interior lights constantly adjusts to the outside brightness thats what the sensor on the dash is for. The little square knob behind the dash storage on top. You will notice it going under bridges, shaded areas, tunnels etc.

Well ####.....Ive only had the thing a week, but it never did that until the Netstar install......####. So it's probably fine?

I feel like a chop now.

(I didn't have much choice, Insurance wanted this particular Netstar)

Probably never noticed until the netstar was installed .

Mine has been doing it since day one. Although I must add it’s intermittent depending on where it is parked ( under trees, carport, direct sun etc. )

Ok well while I still look like an idiot......Exterior Temp Display on the XL.....is it shown anywhere? I can choose between Celsius and Fahrenheit in the display menu.....but the temp is nowhere to be found.

XL spec does not come with outside temperature reading. The bean counters at work.

Ok then I'm not going completely crazy.....Auto dimming interior lights, but no temp gauge. Seems a bit strange haha.

I am coming from a TJ Wrangler, so basically the Citigolf of 4x4's, so I'll need a minute to catch up with all this fancy new tech (although my Jeep has a compass and Tempt gauge! )
