Jip, I was in Nairobi on Monday. They've had a lot of rain!! We were delayed for an hour on Tuesday due to ground staff at the airport unable to work in the downpour!!!!

The long rains started around the middle of March this year. I have been getting videos from my family of rivers bursting their banks since the start of the rains. It is not supposed to be an El Niño year, but the rains have been positively biblical.

The Red Cross have evacuated thousands of people down river of the Tana and Galana/Sabaki Rivers.

I am more concerned about the poor Kenyans down river than the tourist camps along the Galana River (all of which will have been closed for the long rains - and the owners will, of course, have insurance and other homes). The tourist camp’s staff are an entirely different matter, but let’s hope these tourist camps on this part of the Galana River outside Tsavo East National Park will look after their staff financially.

If you read Daphne Sheldrick’s lovely autobiography, they were marooned north of the Galana River for three months in the 1960s.

Climate change is our legacy to the next generation. OMG...
