Default Scooter misfire at speed, Help Please!

    Hi All
My daughters scooter has developed a missfire at speed.
Starts and reaches about 50kph no problem but as soon as you go any faster is boggs and missfires.
    I have checked the following.

    1. Vacuum hoses
    2. Pet cock
    3. Coil and plug lead
    4. Plug
    5. Inlet manifold (leaks)
    6. Carb cleaned
    7. Mixture set

No luck, still won't go. Any advise on what to check next?
    Thanks

Blocked/Dirty fuel filter perhaps causing fuel starvation at speed.

Could be that the stator isnt able to provide enough spark at those revs?

Regrettably I have no choice but to offer the following honest advise.

Change the sparkplug and buy better quality 2SO, not forecourt Jasco FC rubbish.

Or resign yourself to misfires, fouled plugs and changing plugs regularly.

That's honest opinion. I may not know a lot about 2SO in Turbo Diesels, But i know a $hit&oad about 2SO in two
    stroke engines.

    --------------------

If on the other hand the scooter is a 4 stroke, forget the above comments in your case.

I will have to check that, Could it be the CDI? Or do either they work or not work at all?

Nope. i have had it where it wasnt providing enough and would almost go into a rev limiter type situation, the bike should be able to rev free through the range.maybe its chucking spark away somewhere too?

Another thing to recheck or perhaps just refit is the spark plug.
I fitted new plugs to my bike and one new plug was a dud. Bike ran rough and would also misfire a bit. Changed the plug and all sorted again

Sounds like your ignition coil is breaking down.

Have you cleaned the airfilter recently?
