Default Lusaka to Kaingu Ludge in Kafue National Park and Back to Lusaka

Just a quick little Trip report.

In March we packed up the LC for a trip to Kaingu Lodge. The rd conditions are fair and you drive trough some beautiful areas. The rd from Lusaka to Kafue takes about 3 to 3 1/2 hours (M9). You then turn South on to the D769 Itezhi Tezhi rd that has some good and some bad stretches for 53km. From the 53km mark its all bush tracks. Take your Tsetse fly gear and Boerrerate, the best you can get, and be prepared. These little buggers are plenty ful in that area, but funny enough, when you get close to the river, they disappear.

The camp spots at Kaingu are delightful and the staff are wonderful, the river in this area are more than spectacular and a visit well worth it for sure. We loved it.

Not so many animals, but a lion in camp on our first night. When you book, try to get Chiefs camp, its a little further away from the lodge in a beautiful spot.

Here is a little video of our weekend away.

Thanks Frank - a great video.

You both must come back when the water levels subside a bit and do another one. You will not believe how beautiful the river is once all the rocks and islands are exposed.

Thanks for the video and update.
Brings back memories of this lovely camp.
Looks as though not much has changed since we were there - but no need.
I think you camped in almost the exact same site that we did.
Lovely place and people - highly recommended.

Yes beware those Tsetsi's! but as said they were not a problem in camp just in the forest area on the way from the gravel road on the sand tracks.
