Ok, got feed back from Echo: The 250 watt PWM solar charger they adverted, is in the MK1 panel, but they never bothered to put a plug for solar panels. That I have done now. Had to pull off their 'no temper' sticker with their permission.

They will courier me the fiberglass pegs (part of the shower setup) and shower head that was not there. But I think I will still fit the bullfinch shower mixer. They work better.

I will still fit the victron 100/20 smart charger, as previously on the Kavango, for the 3 x 80 watt panels and keep their PWM charger as a back up. Wiring done as in picture below with two way switch on power box to select which charger, and red BH plug outside.

I see they use also a different foam now in their mattresses, a bit softer then those HD foam they used to use. On the Kavango I had it changed with layers of latex foam and memory foam.

Once the above is sorted its ready to use, dont think I will bother with any thing else further on it.

Echo sent me this picture of what a client has done not to have the stabilizing legs inside the caravan while traveling, what's worth doing.

Echo sent me the shower head and glass-fire rods for the shower that disappeared somewhere along the way.

Still waiting for the Bulfinch shower head, however the geyser can easily be set for the right temperature, you just have to do before getting in the shower.
In the mean time all storage spaces got carpets also.

    Hi Johan,

Storing the steadies in a dedicated place was essential as they laid on the floor in a bag - so I came up with this idea (the photo you received from Darren) - maybe somebody else has a different/better option?

I also fitted a winch to assist moving the Chobe under the carport - this work great as I can now do it on my own.

The other add on was to fit the side lights in the space provided - the "empty holes" irritated me endlessly (apparently a requirement on the export models). The wiring of the 4 lights was however time consuming, but I still enjoyed the tinkering.

    Now what to do next...?

    Regards,
    Ben

Hi Ben. Thought the jack idea was a good one, the reason I took the liberty to post. Thanks.
Mind you I do have such a brand new 2500 winch lying around!! A few times we struggled to park the kavango in a tight spot, so yes to be considered.

Did not camp yet , maybe then some changes might come then.

Another small modification to prevent the gas pipe from getting pinched in the door - modified a T-Piece into a 90 degree bend (couldn't find a 90 degree bend from a gas supplier) to allow the gas pipe to be horizontal instead of vertical when closing the door.

    Plumbing for shower mixer

Ben, I was also thinking of fit an elbow on the gas pipe! The gas pipe goes into the chassis through the nose cone floor (with a rubber grommet) and all the way to the gas bottle. The gas pipe from the stove goes within that gap below the shelving, and then with a grommet through to the gas bottle. (pictures in post 18.

    Hi Johan,

My geyser is not connected with a pipe to the gas bottle in the back - I use a gas bottle in the nosecone to provide gas for the geyser......but I like your setup and will look at similar in future. I have not completed my plumbing to the shower cubicle to my liking and will probably go the same route as you.

I bit the bullet this morning and upgraded my National Luna weekender with a National Luna 90L which includes the baskets - will still use the weekender as an "extra" if and when needed. (thanks to all the posts over the years on this forum it assisted me a lot in choosing the National Luna 90L, I also had a look at the 72L.....)

Ben yes, you cant go wrong with the 90l NL with baskets, I have one in the caravan and one in the kamper. My shoulders is not what it should be any more, to move those fridges is a bit of a mission for me.

    Morning Guys ,
We took delivery of our Chobe Tec on the 17th and decided that the only way to find out if there are any niggles was to go and camp somewhere , so here we are at Malonjeni bush camp , set up went well and we generally happy with our purchase . Im keen to do some of the mods mentioned here , the stays and the permanent connection for the gas bottles for starters.

Hello Barney - the weather is great so hope you enjoy the camping with your new Chobe Tec
You are now the 3rd Albertonians to respond on this thread - definitely a reason to arrange a get together and discuss our experiences. Wittornado (Johan) and I spoke about a get together, would love to see you there.
Enjoy the rest of your experience, chat soon.
