    Thanks Christo.

What concerns me is the waterproofness. I know they come with the rubber ring but did you have any issue in heavy rain or crossing deep water? Not that I would cross river, just curious... And how do they perform in fog given the color of the light, I believe its 6000K, bright white?

I haven't been through deep water, but have had no issues in the rain
they seal exactly like the bulbs you are replacing, so I dun't think there will be problems

I haven't driven in thick fog with them yet, so cannot comment on that

I bought the same ones on takealot.com for my Hilux. They are white , bright and so far so good. No regrets.

They might be bright and white (6000K) but not all are designed to focus on the fog light requirements, meaning giving a sharp upper contrast line.
I bought some which could only be used for day light driving lights, so replaced them with Xenon.

Test it in front of the garage door at night and compare with the halogen ones you removed.

They are definetely not brighter than your halogen lamps!
But, you are more visible and they consume less current (if that concerns you?)

As for being waterproof....it has to do with the fitting it self. Have a look, it "should" have a drain pipe / water trap underneath.

Where do you get the xenon fog lamp? Is it just plug n pay or modification is required?

Thanks. I see Autostyles, they've it too.

Are they legal unlike LED ones? Then why would I spend 600 on Chinese LEDs where I can get decent Phillips HID for 400 bucks more!
Saw few YouTube videos about installing. Seems quite a simple task.

    LEDs consume less power and have a much longer life span (5watt v 35watt) (2500H V 30000H)
A normal halogen bulb has an average lifespan of around 1000H.

But the HID / XENON WILL OUTPERFORM ANY !

As KS said...the lens is not designed to shine in a certain direction, like a spotlight.....

I believe you are talking about LEDs?

LEDs not in my list anymore. I'm going for Phillips HID xenon kit.
    Anything concerning with that?
Oh what to do with those tiny W5W high beam halogen bulbs?

No, talking about the fog light lens!

Nothing to much to be concerned about (besides being very bright which may irritate oncoming traffic?), the only worry would be the ballast..... usually the wiring is quite short so would be mounted close to the lamp. With standard wiring would be my concern? Where to mount it, as it would be fairly low and may get water (unless the unit is waterproof?)

Just playing with the options I've, I guess. Nothing wrong with the halogen, just keen to explore something different and see what difference it makes.

If you are using the fog lamps for their intended purpose and legally, then in fog or mist or heavy rain they should not irritate oncoming traffic.

However if you are using them illegally like during the day or night when visibilty is good then you will definitely irritate oncoming traffic.

If you want to be visible during the day just turn your headlights on. Much more visible than two small foglights.

I noticed that the locals in their mercs, bmw's, audis,vw's etc like to look cool so turn their front and rears on permanently.

No they don't...these cars like mine, wife's audi etc. have two switches/rotary dial pulled out that you need to physically activate as per laws in most countries, fog lights are meant for exactly that, FOG and don't turn on automatically! The guys that I work with when asked about this say they think it is cool.
