Default Why don't we get all the Wrangler versions?

Jeep USA lists a Wrangler Sport and a Wrangler Sport "S" in the JL version.

In the outgoing JK, they have the Freedom, Golden Eagle, Willys Wheeler, Altitude, and Rubicon Recon version.

Why don't we get these (sometimes better priced) editions?

Not enough sales to justify is all I can think.

In the greater scheme of things, we're just not very important.

We also have sketchy marketing divisions who do 'market research" and decide what gets sold.

I was pretty heavily involved in the VW scene and we begged and pleaded VWSA to sell 2 door golfs here. Nope "There's no demand for 2 doors". But when they made the 2 door polo they couldn't make enough of them. They flew out of dealers.

    don't get me started

I worked for telkom in a previous life: never try and explain real life to the demand management team..........

    It went something like this:

"Why no ADSL capability in that neighbourhood?"

    "There is no demand"

    "How do you know?"

"There are no ADSL lines in that neighbourhood..........."

They can't move the models they have - why would they offer more?

Well, when US Company Chev leaves the country because it can't sell its product.
When SA makes up 0.25% of the world market.
When Wranglers are in the R500 000+ bracket that makes up a tiny portion of our sales.

Then, asking why we don't get all the derivatives the US has, deserves a lucid response.

I get what you're saying. But in the states you can order your wrangler the way you want it. We order wranglers from them, so why can;t we order a brand new wrangler the way we want it?

Maybe I want a 4door with half doors, no hard top, d44s with lockers and in manual. If I am getting a new car why can't I order the one I want?

And Ford literally had a line around the block for the 2 door ST!

I worked at VW during that time, everyone thought the marketing and buyers were on drugs not see what was happening...

In the article it looks like there wont be aircon in the Sport version, is that really something that one would leave absent in a vehicle?

Aircon has been an optional extra for the Sport trim since the YJ AFAIK.
