Well you always have interesting perspectives. The above is before you even try fitting these sorts of vehicles into a standard garage! I would imagine you would need to leave them outside and that would trouble the OCD in me.

Did you see the aussie guy that is busy with a Bakkie/UTE conversion of his brand new 200 series cruiser. I would never be able to chop a new vehicle like that, but it looks like a nice rig he is building.

We do have a dedicated Gturbo supplier here in SA.
He works very closely with the guys from Just Autos in Aus for the programming and gets his turbos directly from Graham at Gturbo Aus.

Just bought a big turbo kit from him with all the Aussie kit to be installed on my cruiser.

    Ramon at DrDiesel in Jhb.

I am curious to know how many V8 land cruiser owners have done big turbo upgrades here in SA and how many have Gturbo upgrades.

I am so excited for the build I can hardly wait. The cruiser leaves about the 7th December to go to jhb for the kit install.

The full kit imported and installed is 300k. Expensive for sure but it will run so much better. Especially after the airbox upgrade alone since the engine will breath so much better and the intake pipe being twice as big to the turbo. Getting a second snorkel on the left for all the diff breathers and so on and will just balance it out. This setup has been run in Australia with no issues at all and since Matt from Just Auto in Australia will do the map and then just fine tuning here.

The same kit as on back in black cruiser but bigger turbo.

Will post everything as it happens. Then fit the Jamax radius arms when they arrive and brake booster and the cruiser will be complete. Ramon for Dr Diesel also been to Australia to learn and become an importer for the Norweld trays and Superior Engineering coil conversion kit for the rear. But I wonít be doing that.

Spent enough on the cruiser now I think 🤣 atleast there will be no limp mode issues or people installing kits and learning as they go at my expense.

It will be a handful to drive for sure

In persoon verkies ek petrol enjins bo diesel. Ek het egter opleiding in diesel ontvang so ek verstaan hul redelik goed.

I agree with you grips on most things. Yes there are guys pushing big numbers but they canít use it because egt temps or somethings else.

I took the time with mine and did the research and found the right people with know how to do my engine build and I spared no costs to have it done right.

I can honestly say my cruiser runs perfectly in most regards. I can hammer it all day every day using full boost and never have an issue with the egt temps. No limp mode and I will be honest I do drive it like I stole it after it has come to proper operating temps and serviced on the dot.

There are no half measures in engine builds. No quick Ecu flash and off you go. Sure my cruiser is lazy under 2000 rpm when itís out of boost and you got to stir it a bit but then itís all smiles. 350kw and 1000 Nn torque is more than enough for me.

I am open to anyone to come and feel the cruiser out and see how it goes. But yes there are a lot of science in these modern day engines that needs to be respected.

For some silly reason I am keeping a close eye on the devlopment of the 1vd 5.1l stroker engine. I am a sucker for cubic inches.
In the graph below they have maxed out the stock ECU..
