We are planning to travel from Malelane rest camp to Badplaas and I s wondering if the Shiyalongubo Pass is worth a visit?

Do you plan on driving south from Kaapmuiden and then to turn up into the mountains at Louisville? Then to work your way towards the Barberton- Bulembu road? On that road you can drive towards Bulembu and then drop down into Diepgezet/Msauli and on to Badplaas?

Instead of going back up to Baberton, to go past pigs peak, but it seems like time will be an issue. Wife wants to do a early morning game drive still before heading to badplaas.

Is this the route you are considering:
Malelane gate, Jeppes Reef, Pigg's Peak, Bulembu border crossing, down Diepgezet to Msauli and then on to Badplaas?

    You won't have enough time.
Entered Bulembo border post on Tuesday and the road from there to Piggs Peak is a plantation road in not so fair condition. Today we drove past Louw's Creek towards Shiyalongubu dam, and the road is in good condition to there, can't say from the dam to the Bulembu/Barberton tar road what it looks like.
But just driving from Louw's Creek pas the dam, then to Diepgezet then to Badplaas will take you at least half a day if you want to make it worth your while and sight see.

    Yeah.
That is the old Barbrook mine roaster stack.
From Shiyalongubu to the Barberton/Bulembu road is about 50% plantation (if not more). Picking the correct track in a changing landscape isn't always easy.
