Default Newbie intro w\ 1 question to the helpful

Hello, this is Lars (37) and my wife Romy (32) from Germany. We're just now having a sabbatical and are traveling through some African countries for 8 months. We had a 4x4 rented in Uganda and that was a fairly easy task (pls ask for infos!). So the next longer road trip will lead us through Namibia and Botswana for 5 weeks. Ok so here's my newbie question (and it really is one): what we have not understood yet is how people find small groups to travel together. This might sound silly but if we just go to a campsite and find people who roughly have our direction, wouldn't we still take very different routes according to the widespread campsites? But finding people with a matching itinerary before starting the trip doesn't seem realistic, neither.
Btw. we'll be at DQAE near Ghanzi on the 4 March and go on through KCGR before heading north towards Moremi, Nxai Pan, Makgadikgadi, Kasane and on to Caprivi, Etosha.
Newest regards from Romy and Lars

Hi Romy and Lars and welcome to the site!
Probably the best thing to do is just to chat to other travellers in the camp sites as you go along, and see if anyone is going in your direction, or adapt your plans to fit in with them. But both Botswana and Namibia are pretty easy countries in which to travel, and solo travel is perfectly easy to do.
You'll find plenty of information and advice on this forum, and may also be able to find some travelling companions.
