Frustrating I cant find any "off-cuts' pieces of mesh (or expanded metal) at the steel dealers in my area. I need three small pieces, Not going to buy a full sheet.

Positioning of the nosecone, to create the gap where the mesh basket with angle irion frame is going to be for the wood and dirty braai grids

I have a 1976 Venter that I want to do the same to. Will be putting a bought axle on so that I can use the receipt for the re-registration to up the puny 560kg tow limit.

I like your ideas with the chassis and will be doing pretty much the same as mine is rusted badly

Chris rust is the liller for a venter. I have no rust. I will paint the whole trailer underneath with chassis paint. Should last me years

What mod did you make to the a-frame itself to strengthen it ?

I replaced the whole Aframe with 100x50 lip channel. The new aframe is welded onto the new chassis.

    Is this possible?
I have a rusted out trailer that I am gong to rebuild and if possible I wouldn't mind doing a weight upgrade.

What size tyres did you fit to get greater ground clearance. My other comment is that when you go off-road is to used two 50mm ratchet straps and put them over the lid and going around under the chassis and that way it prevents the to of the trailer from shaking to much on the chassis

The ground clearance was gained due to the fact that There is now a 50 mm spacer (the chassis) between the trailer box and the axle. The axle is now fixed to the chassis(which is the bottom of the trailer now), and the load box is mounted on top of the chassis, which use to be the bottom of the trailer. Thus the 50MM lift. The tyres are still the same tyres and rims that was on the trailer

Also, the Axle moved "backwards", although its still at the same place on the trailer, the fact that I increased the length of the A frame with 350 mm, the axle moved 350 mm futher away from the tow ball of the car. This will help with more stable towing

Yes. If you upgrade the axle you need to take it for roadworthy and weighing. I believe you apply at the traffic department for a change to the vehicle first. Then take all your paperwork to the licencing dept. Get it finalised. Get the new specs and approach campworld or some such place for a new licence plate.

    Great, thanks for the info!
Sounds like it's doable. I have an axle with brakes so that's sorted.

Make sure that you have your receipt for the axle. They will need that
