Default Xtrail shuddering on pull off after water wading....

    Afternoon all.

2012 Xtrail (last of the "old ones" before the new shape came out).
    2.5 4x4 petrol.

Last week, waded across a flooded road (first gear in 4x - water was still). not sure of exact depth, but it did not seep in through the doors, however the radiator is full of grass bits.
Since then, notably today ( 4 days later), car has a shudder when puling off. She runs fine, revs fine, its only the shudder on pull off.

Any ideas? Anyone have something similar??

Water in the clutch. That's why some vehicles had/have wading plugs.........

Could be release bearing and or clutch plate fouled up. Also drain, flush and refill different and gearbox. Needs a very good check everywhere underneath up to where water reached. Don't drive until sorted.

Thanks for the pointers, i thought it may have something to do with water having "gotten" in somewhere.
Will book it is asap at the local.

Must also add, that it is more the exception that the rule - happens less often than it does. tried this morning to get it to shudder again, cant get it right.
@mozguide I know you say not to drive it untill sorted, however, dont really have much choice, and seeing that it is not a constant issue, I will have to drive it till I can get it in. Fortunately my commute is 2 km each way.

The water could have caused a temporary glaze (due to slight slippage when wet) between the clutch plate and pressure plate, this should normally disappear with use. If it continues, you have two choices:

    - remove and replace
    - a Benoni repair

The Benoni repair is nicely explained in this thread, but you use the process at your own risk.

OK, should be ok, then. Note that a bit of water in gearbox or diff oil usualy won't initially cause any problems, but long term wear and damage is likely.

    thanks again chaps.

@ Jello, funny you should say it disappears with usage and time, the last 2 days have been "fine" Maybe it was exactly as you say, a bit of water where it shouldn't have been.
Car is going soon (next couple of weeks) for a service, and i will most definitely make a point of advising the service team, and ask them to have a look-see.
thanks for the help, looks like it may have sorted it'self

    Clutch.
Flywheel has 'highspots' on it and the clutch plate 'grabs' as you release it causing a shudder.
Cant tell you why it happened after the water crossing though.
