    Default Kruger: romantic get away.

Ok so 1 month from today I need to spoil the non-camping, english woman.

We are married thirty years and I need to reward her for not running away or killing me.
Most of the lodges in Kruger or Pilanesberg that does Dinner bed and breakfast does not fit into my budget.

So I thought I will ask here for advice.

It does not have to be in the kruger but half a days drive from Johannesburg preferably in a big 5 proper game reserve. Somewhere where she does not have to cook and clean.

    Self drive must be available.

Aircon and or Jacuzzi is nice to have.

Budget is up to about R 3000 per day for both of us. ( that is R 100 per year that she stuck it out, I think that is fair!)

Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

Why don't you just book one of the beautiful cliff edge chalets in Olifants Camp and eat in the lovely restaurant every breakfast and dinner? Lunches can be had in other camps or even some of the picnic spots cater for lunch (e.g. Tshokwane). Edit: apparently the restaurant went downhill when Mugg & Bean pulled out last year. Such a shame...

Ha ha I did that for effect. You must remember I get discount for so many years.

Maybe if it was year one I could have paid more per year.

Thank you for all the suggestions.

Dinokeng is our go to playground for day outings and 1 nights. Looking for something a bit more authentic bush.

    Waiting for prices from others.

    Thank you very much.

Not sure if I would ever put "romantic" and "KNP" in one sentence with any positive connotations.

But here is a quick Google result or 2 for other places:

Champagne taste and beer budget is a terrible thing.

Some of the places suggested is R 100 000 per night.

They do look awesome though . But no thanks.

We are finding beautiful affordable lodges on the edge of Kruger but I would really like to stay inside a game reserve. I would prefer to go for early morning self drive and then come home for brunch and siesta. Go for sunset drive and then make a nice fire and talk about 30 years of adventures ahead of us.

I find this booking process highly frustrating.

What about Ngwenya Lodge? Have actually seen a kill from river chalet while staying there. There is a restaurant and spa. Close enough to Crocodile bridge gate to do a early morning drive as well as a late afternoon drive.

Another alternative is a riverfront unit in Lower Sabie; the restaurant there is apparently still excellent. And don't dismiss Skukuza too easily!
