    Default Another D4 engine failure

Hi to all my 4x4 friends

On Wednesday 15H30 my beloved D4's life came to an end
Travelling back from the Western Cape to Durban it's life ended 29 km's before Senekal on the N5
Cruising at about 125/130 km/hr a knock started to develop, we stopped (no warning lights at all) engine still running
The knock became louder and switched car off, opened the bonnet and noticed oil dripping on the floor.
Phoned the insurance (took 25 min to answer) organised roll back towing service (back to Bloemfontein because thats where the nearest dealership is) arrived 22H25 in Bloemfontein, booked into B&B

Next morning took Disco to LR in Bloem, started the car (yes she still starts ) the service manager just said "mayor engine failure) and he noticed crank shaft pulley is "wobbly"

The car will be delivered back in Dbn on Monday and my indy will open her up and see if she is salvagable (maybe CPR will help )
I will update as soon as I have more details
    2010 Disco 4 (268k km's) owned her from new
Serviced at LR until 150000 km's after that my indy

    Regards to all

Sad to hear about this A & B. That is incredibly good mileage though, I guess it was time to go into retirement. Good luck with the outcome.

Looks like a TDV6 badge on the back. Didn't the D4 come with the 3.0 180kw motor from the start? Just the badging changed IIRC, but stand to be corrected.

Firstly. Sorry for your misfortune. Never nice to see or hear about.

Secondly. It seems that not a single day goes by without a thread being started of a D3/4 breaking. With the amount of traffic the Forum receives, itís almost certain that the D3/4 value drops with every negative thread that is started.

Maybe itís time to ask our resident blue man to start a Super Thread.

In 2010 the SDV6 started appearing on the cars. They also had black LR badges where the TDV6 had green ones. I owned a 2010 SDV6
