Default The Hilux fred: Starting with a blank canvas

Before I start with a blank canvas - allow me to recognize the old.

Bought on 1 March 2008 - DIE SILWER TUNA.

This car gave us tremendous amounts of joy and took us to places that took our breath away. She visited every country south of the equator in Africa barring Anglo, Congo, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
She towed trailers and other cars and once even took a trip on a low bed from Sherwood to Pretoria. She took us to Vic falls, Moremi, Savuti, Chobe, Etosha, Great Zimbabwe, Cahora Bassa, Lake Malawi, Inhassoro, Inhambane, Xai Xai, Bilene, Sodwana, Cape Town, PE, EL, Durbs, Thabazimbi and many many many more.

She did Baboons pass, De Wildt, Hennops, Berakah, River trip, crossed ferries, rivers and mountains and many more.

She took my son and daughter home from the hospital after birth.

She took us to church and to the family and friends.

Just some of the roads we traveled with her are highlighted below.

And you leave us in suspense sommer net so!

Well done to the Tuna, I'm thinking of letting my V6 go with 175000km on the clock for something new.

Tell us more about the Hilux.

On Wednesday I will take ownership of a new 2.4 SRX Revo.

    Reasons for the 2.4:

The 2.8 Raider is R96 000 more expensive which basically gives you:
    • 20Kw
    • 20Nm
    • Reverse Camera with the touch screen radio
    • Multi information display in TFT
    • Cruise control.
    • LED lights with DDL
    • 35kg lesser payload (for what it's worth)

    I chose extras:

    • Ruberising
    • 267/70R17 Cooper STT Pro
    • Caska radio with reverse cam

I will fit the following this week still:

    • Replacement rear bumper
    • Rock sliders
    • Bash plate
    • Snorkel
    • Mr Bullbar cattle rails
    • John Deere Sticker

Congrads Uys. Last year at Whoopa the 2.4 was one of the big surprises. The stock 2.4DC of Gert impressed in sand driving. Overall a very nice combination. Very good choice.

Cannot wait to see the end product with all the Stofpad goodies bolt on

    Roll out the mods.

Nice mileage but even better use of it ...cars go, memories stay forever.

Just a quick question, have you changed/upgraded the headlights and the grill (I have the 2008 also...on some photos I see the facelift headlights and grill...or is that another vehicle)?
