I see errol's sell those for R622 a piece but shipping will make it uneconomical. I will go to tire places around here and inquire.

I see these on A-Line's website

So I am so busy with my Rocky, wife's Rocky is not attended to as I should.

Did tyre rotate on hers approx 5 000km ago. Checked discs and pad thickness. Saw no issues and expected pads to hold up for some time.

Had wheel alignment checked on Saturday and discs were moer toe with deep groove in each.

    Some pad thickness left over

No noise from metal on metal...stops just fine.

No discs to be had in SA. Phoned all around. Milner Off Road in UK. 38pound to buy, 144pound to get here. R3 500 for two discs and pads probably no too much. Excludes local import and VAT.

What happened I will only know once I strip.

Wife does drive like bat out of hell...even friends say so.

Geez spares on these things is a pita!
Approx how many were imported into SA?

Might be a business opportunity to import common spares and have sources for all the rest with 2-3 week lead time. Apart from bulk discount savings is there any advantage to a business importing stuff vs an individual?

I'm assuming an individual gets charged the same duties on a particular part as a business, perhaps the only advantage is being able to claim the import VAT back?

Can you not have them skimmed on-car? How much meat is still on them?

Mine was aslo rather gouched and I had them skimmed when I fitted the new pads.

No they are too badly damaged to be skimmed.

Ordered set and will keep damaged ones. Gonna look for a similar one from different vehicle.

Apparently slave cylinder in rear drums same as my 97 Hilux. Will see during hols when I do the brakes.

Sure master cylinder kit will be similar to another vehicles. Just to find out. Next challenge

So I stripped blue Rocky's front discs....and found the why I had the groove as per post #127

Previous guy that worked on brakes could not probably source front pads. They were made up and pop rivetted to backing. and

Edit: Looking thru inspection space on caliper there was enough thickness left over to go a while. Who would expect pop rivets

Anyway...the white one is a fount of joy. After 'boer maak 'n paln' bracket I pulled a fully laden trailer to Hogsback. No issues except the fuel consumption...6km/l.

Spent week there and back home we followed the route less often followed

Daughter now happily married whilst there

I hate taxis with a passion, bur their spares saved the day.
The Hi-Ace clone, CAM Inyathi is the culprit. or saviour

The rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders are identical. Shoes were R435 and cylinders were R315.

    Changed, done and dusted.

We went to Vleesbaai for some sand driving. Quite a large group. We were seven cars and there was other cars on the track as well.

Was a day of tyre problems. Maybe we played too hard.
One with punctured sidewall, one complete de-bead and mine partial de-bead. Kumho's doesn't mind going down to 0.6bar, but with the sharp and fast turns some problems like sand in the beads pop up. Never had problems on rocky surfaces, but there everything is much slower.

Vleesbaai's lang bult also no issues for Rocky, did whole track in 4H

Must say it looks like a Dinky Car between the 'big boys'.

    Great day all round
