Hello all. I've got a strange problem with my 1997 J95 Prado. My mechanic disconnected the battery to do some welding underneath the car. After the battery was reconnected, the engine won't switch off after turning and removing the key.

There's just a warning tone 'bip, bip bip' sound that comes out. After several minutes of this, the engine switches off by itself and then you hear 'bip bip beep bip, bip bip beep bip', just like morse code.

I've found that I can get the engine to switch off after removing the key, whilst it's still bipping, by stepping on the brake pedal. After this too, I get the 'bip bip beep bip, bip bip beep bip'.

I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but that hasn't helped. The mechanic feels that it needs some form of reset of the electronics, but neither of us have a clue how to do so. I don't even have a manual that I can refer to.

Thanks for any advice that you can offer!
