Default Advice needed on ZAM/ZIM/BOTS trip

    Good day all of you,

This forum has been an invaluable source of information for me to prepare for many of my trips.

I live in the Netherlands, lecturing Biology at University and have become addicted to Africa over the years (Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South-Africa, Swaziland), mostly on holiday with my wife and son (17), but also with my Biology students whom I take on excursions.

Could you please advice me on the following:

In July/August 2018 we will go on a 6 week trip through ZAM/ZIM/BOTS (camping, Hilux Bushcamper).
First two weeks from Lusaka to Maun (via Linyanti/Savuti/Khwai).
Last two weeks Mana Pools and South Luangwa.

In between Maun and Mana Pools we have about two weeks left in the planning.

We are thinking about two options:
Maun-Kasane-KafueNP-Lower Zambezi NP-Mana Pools (of course taking more than one day going from one place to another)
    Or
    Maun-Hwange--Mana Pools.

Basically it comes down to choosing between Kafue+LZNP and Hwange+.
I have been in Zambia a long time ago (2003) and have never been in Zimbabwe.

What would you do? Or perhaps you have other suggestions/options?

The planning for Chobe/Moremi/Mana canít be changed due to existing reservations (and the effort it costs to make them).

Any advice is welcome, hope to hear from you.

    Werner

When entering or exiting Mana, get at least one night at Chitakie Springs.
I would use at least a week in Hwange, taking a night at whatever camp sites you can get.
Ngweshle is probably the most popular...

We plan something similar for June/July. Would you need a carnet for all the border crossings? Would it be easier to cross all the borders if you have a Carnet? If you cross to and fro from ZambiŽ multiple times, do you have to pay all the border costs everytime? Or is it valid for say, 30 days? Thanx.

You don't need a carnet for ZIM/ZAM/BOTS. I have no idea if a carnet will speed things up crossing borders.
The road and carbon tax are valid for 30 days.

We have made all our bookings. The route (37 days) will be:
    Lusaka
    Livingstone
    Chobe/Savuti/Moremi
    Nxai Pan (The Meerkats)
    Hwange
    Vic Falls
    Lower Zambezi
    Mana Pools
    South Luangwa
    Lusaka

    Morning all

I need some advice on traveling from Musina to Solwezi in Zambia. I m currently working at Lumwana mine and want to travel with my South Africa vehicle to Lumwana.

What will be the best route to travel and also border crossings. I will use a carne de passage from SA.

Is there any red tape that I need to be aware of?

    Regards

    Herman
