Default 4x4 routes through outniqua to wilderness

    Hi guys.

Looking for suggestions. Will be driving down to wilderness on monday. Planning to leave early enough to tackle a 4x4 route on the last stretch if its possible. From graaff reinet if i take the N10 pass uniondale it takes me to the landward side of the outeniquas. Looking for an interesting 4x4 route that cuts through the mountain range to get me to wilderness without having to go all the way to george. I have done the louvain route before so looking for something different.

    Suggestions?

You could try Louvain. Takes you across the mountain to Knysna.

    Hi Yaseen

I assume you mean the N9 from Graaff-Reinet to Uniondale. From Uniondale to Wilderness I see 2 routes:
    1) N9 all the way to N12, onto George and then N2 to Wilderness. (Google shows 127 km and 1,5 hours)
    2) Or take the R339 (aka Prince Alftred's pass) from Uniondale to Knysna and then N2 to Wilderness. (Google reckons 133km and 3 hours)

Either way, have fun and enjoy.

Setween Geoege and Knysna is the Phantom Pass - a very long time since I was there last. At that time it was a reasonable gravel road very scenic. Maybe by now it is a 4x4 track?
Not quite answering your question but may be worth a look while in the area.
