Hi Neels - restoring the purchase should have worked, although I found my older maps are pale in comparison to the new HD maps, well worth purchasing the R199 option for the whole African continent.

Any idees on how to get the SA and Botswana Guides back?

The cities like Bloemfontein, Pretoria etc are no display, only if one zoom in then can you see them but then the full picture is missing. Maybe one can decrease the letter sizes, not sure.

    Hi Neels,

Unfortunately I only have the Android version of the app, I have asked Johann to reply but he is away this week, so may only be able to respond next week.

    Hi Waals,

One cannot install the older version of the app, no.

Did you purchase or download the HD map as well or only the basemap?

    Hi Scalci,

Which Park are you referring too - if you could give me a specific location so I can see what you mean by "borders" ?

    Hi Neels,

No, the size of the font cannot be changed, the zoom level that you are using will determine the size of the font. If you zoom far out e.g. to see most of Southern Africa, there is a huge amount of information to display, and some information will "disappear" from the screen - preference will be given to main highways and larger cities or towns. If two cities are close together, e.g. Pretoria and Johannesburg, or Bloemfontein and Kimberley, there will not be room to display both on the screen and you will need to zoom in to see the other city.

    Hi Waals,

Just looking at the two screenshots, you have installed the HD map already. You can uninstall this and see if you are happier with the display on the basemap, which will be similiar to the older app. But remember that you cannot zoom in past 5km on the basemap, and a lot of detail that you can see on the HD map (e.g. streets and other minor icons), is not available on the basemap.

I have confirmed that uninstalling the HD map will not change the look of the basemap, apologies. But we are looking at showing more detail at a higher zoom level for the next update.

I have the T4A guide app and 3 maps, so also I have the Africa HD map. I like the app a lot, seems to really work well for exploring options and way less cumbersome than searching around on my clunky 276cx.

Question though: Does anyone know if maps purchased in-app are eligible for the Apple Family Sharing? I'd love to put this app on my wife's phone, as she is frequently the one evaluating stops, but I don't want to have to buy the maps twice. Any advice/experience appreciated.

Google says that family sharing is eligible for in app purchases if enabled by the developer.

    Hi CalDriver,

Thank you for the positive feedback!

Unfortunately Apple does not allow Family Sharing for in-app purchases - so it is not something that T4A can change on our side. However, if your wife logs out of the iStore on her phone, and log into your account with your AppleID on her phone, then she can download the app and maps that you have purchased onto her phone as well, then just log out of your account and back into her account. When there is an update she would have to do it again to get the updates.

    Travel safe!

In the app settings, Map, there is the 2 settings 1. Cluster Radius and 2. Num listings. What does these 2 settings do? What is the beter option to set it to?

    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

I am trying to find out for you - mine is set to 15 for cluster radius and 250 for num listings, I presume those are the pre-sets as I don't remember playing with this.

    Thanks,
These two settings influence how points of interest are displayed on the map. These are the POI which are displayed when you select one or more content icons.

The default settings are what we suggest but you can play around with these. You will quickly realise if the display becomes too slow or if too many points are clustered together.

Number of listings dictate how many of these points are shyon the map each time to pan or zoom. Too many and the map becomes slow, too little and you may need to zoom in more.

The cluster radius determines at which distance two adjacent points will be clustered together instead of being shown on their own.

Hope this helps. To be honest we will probably remove this setting in future as we actually left it in case some devices are too unresponsive.
