Default last Sete Diablos........Brakke Duine..... Jk or V9X?......any Joiners?

So i have come to my last challenge. Barakke Duine near PE.

my question is never driven dunes before what weapon do i choose?

    • JK. 35's 2 inch lift?
    • v9x pathfinder stock

PE is 960km away and i am going to visit the inlaws for a few days, so driving down. Only going 3 or 4 days(between Christmas and New Year) so will be driving A LOT..

    the conundrum is

    • V9X will be lighter on fuel, more comfortable( Swambo 5 and half months pregnant then). Seems people rate it high as a dune driver? only has LS dif in rear. but lots of Torque
    • JK(PANDA) it is a Rubicon i have done all the 6 previous ones with panda know its capabilities as a rock crawler but not in sand.

any dune driving tips will be appreciated..

I need to complete the whole course including the Figure 8, i need to do it all in one day. Don't want to need and go back if i failed as that will only be Desember next year.

So i need to do it now before Bambino arrives.....

who ever wants to join is welcome.

JK with 35`s. You Cannot completely override the auto boxes on the VX9`s. Nice cars but you need practise to jippo gear changes for sand driving.

take the Rubicon. install the ESP kill switch before attempting dunes or you will be disappointed!
if you take the V9X pull the ABS fuse, make sure you are in the right gear (low / high range) before you pull the fuse because once the fuse is out you have no control over that anymore.

this is very true. even with the ABS fuse pulled the V9X downshifts when IT wants and not when YOU want it to. this is a killer in the dunes. by the time the V9X shifts down you have lost all momentum, the engine is under the powerband and it does not spool up fast enough to build momentum again. you can actually hear the turbo dying through the snorkel, if you have one that is.

The JK will be fine, Just put in 4 low and drive it like you stole it. No need for anything else. Run the tyre as 0.8 bar.
