    Default GTG Thread Guidelines

I see GTG Threads are starting make a comeback...

Unfortunately, some Threads have the details hidden somewhere on the 3rd, 4th or even 5th page.

So here are my guideless which I have found highly successful over the 60 odd GTG's I have arranged on Forum....

Post One should contain ALL the relevant info:
What, When, Where, Who, How Much, Time etc. & any other relevant stuff.

    Here is a good example:

    http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...amp-5-November

Please note the example is just an example. The event is closed for bookings.

Next, as soon as you launch the Thread, you (The Originator or OP), must then immediatelyREPLY to your own Thread to book post #1 for the list of attendees.
Do it immediately before some chop replies with 'Tentative'... or something equally pointless.

I usually just write [Booked for attendees list] & then update as people RSVP.

    Some Tips:

    * Check that the Thread title is 100% correct, because you cannot edit a Thread title later

    * Avoid putting a date or time in the title - if it changes you are screwed.
I did it the example above - but I'm a GTG God...

    * Never say things like "Next Week" or "Spring GTG" in the title as that may date.

    * Never add chops who are 'Tentative' to the attendees list.

    * Remember, about 30% of people who say they are coming drop out on the day.
HOWEVER, this drops to less than 12% if you collect payment up front.
    You'll never get a 100% turnout.

Here is a brilliant example of how NOT to do a GTG.

Well Manny I disagree. This is the (I really don't know) how many GTG's I have organized for the forum never mind the SA 4x4 Club of SA and Honeybee Outeniqua Training & Tours' all have been a success. The Forum GTG at Buffel's Baai a few years ago was a massive success with members attending from as far as JHB and Cape Town.

    We have a venue
    We have a weekend/dates
We have members (and friends) with a "YES" Two's fine, three's a crowd and any more is just FANTASTIC ....

The only "problem" is the spit. Is it on or off ? Well, I am going ahead with the spit. So far only one objection and I can see the valid points. For a spit you need numbers and my bottom line is 18 (@R160) which for a spit is really bottom line, if there are more people at the spit, simple, costs take a dive. A 30kg spit will feed PLENTY people (at 300gram pp nearly a theoretical 100) in reality around 50. So, roll on numbers
I enjoy doing spit's ... a spit there will be even if I pay for the blooming thing myself

In all fairness, many of those posts were pillow talk.
