    Default Lesotho: Mantsonyane to Semonkong

    Hi all
We will be in Lesotho on the 14th October and looking to drive the gravel road from Mantsonyane south to Semonkong. T4A just states that it is a 'bad road''. Has anyone on the forum driven this route recently that can offer advice? Is it passable and what time to allocate for it?
    Thanks

    Hi Don,

We did this route in 2007. It took our convoy of 3 vehicles just under 6 hours to complete the 68km's then. Expect a 2 spoor road mostly which was not used frequently at the time. Before the river crossing the road had serious washed away dongas which necessitated some road building. No bridge at river crossing. Once through river a serious pass awaits. Also washed out at places. Expect white knuckle 1st gear low range stuff through there. It was a great experience with spectacular scenery. Al said, this was 10 years ago. Have no idea of current state.

Send an e-mail to Ashley Thorn on the Ramabanta Trading Post website for the most updated info. I don`t think anyone knows that part of Lesotho better than him.
