Default Nissan Hardbody general info required

    Hi all,

Firstly I have no experience in the 4x4 arena.

I have fallen in love with the Nissan Hardbody double cab, and would like a bit of info before buying. Here are some details on my situation:

I will be buying second hand, so no maintenance plan etc.
I will be looking around the 2004 model area (based on financial restrictions I am shopping in the R120k region).
I will be using the vehicle more for personal transport (this will be my only vehicle so work and back, weekend driving etc...) and basic weekend get aways (normal camping etc...) than actual 4x4'ing (this may change as I get into the scene, but will more than likely stay more focused on basic use than extreme 4x4'ing).

    My questions are as follows:

    1. What are the maintenance costs like for these vehicles? Regular services, general wear and tear such as tyres etc. I understand different models will be different, just looking for estimates...

    2. What is the cost difference of maintaining a 4x4 as apposed to a 4x2?

    3. Are there any known issues or unhappiness with the Hardbody range I should be aware of?

Anything helpful that you could add would also be much appreciated!

Hi Mort, welcome to the site. First of all i think some people might ask you to leave a word out on your signature statement.

The hardbody is like every other bakkie or double cab in that segment of the market, Its best you ask your local dealer about maintance costs and they should have a board up in the enquires about all the servicing costs at different klms and what they do.

You offcourse can shop around for independant garages that might be more competitive.
As for performance, well it can do just about everything any other vehicle in that segment of the market can do. So its a capable vehicle. Cheers Ian

    Default Nissan Hardbody

    Hi Mort,
The Nissan Hardbody is a very capable 4x4 (just buy a 4x4 and get it done with)
but I've had a bad experience with the Hardbody's diesel motor, so be carefull. The petrol motor is very good.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mort

Hardbodies are lekker bakkies and capable offroad.

    BUT

My friend drives a 3000TD in the same year model. And last week the engine threw in the towel.

    So do your homework well.
