Default Cederberg - Citadel 4x4 Trail

There is a 4x4 trail over the mountains that joins up with the gravel road between Wuppertal and Clanwilliam. If taking the Jeep track towards Wuppertal turn left when entering Wuppertal, after about 3.7km you reach the start of the Citadel 4x4 route (S32 15.491' E19 14.910').

The locals informed us that the road had washed away in some heavy rains a few years ago but we decided to try and tackle it anyway. The trail is pretty rough and in places we lost it completely, its very overgrown in places so don't attempt if you are worried about bush pin stripes.

Unfortunately i just couldn't climb a section of the road and we were running out of daylight, so we made the decision to turn back. I will definitely be attempting it again as it feels very remote and the scenery is beautiful.

Nope, no gates or payments. It's a open trail.
