Default Very disappointed in Bridgestone Dueller

Done alignment and rotation. Alignment was spot on. But, very disappointed in Duellers. They have even wear but start to feather, only 33 000km and 4 years old, 5mm tread. According to the tyre guys, they have experienced this a lot. The Bridgestone tyres get harder with age and then the risk of blow outs are high.

So, two options - BF's or GT Radial Komodo.

If they have 5mm left after 4 years, you'd only need to worry about this in 3 years time..........

    What about Dunlop AT3?

The tyre experts advised met that I need new tyres ASAP as the rubber has become hard.

EDIT: They advised me not to go Bridgestone, Dunlop or GoodYear.

I would also suggested staying away from the Dunlops. Have never had good experience, especially the AT3s and those duelers that cruisers come out with now.

If money isn't a worry, go for bf or cooper's, you can be sure to get a full 100k km off them.

If budget conscious, many of the "import" tires are far better than Dunlops. Have had good service from GT Radial and Achilles brands

When someone selling tyres telling you that, take it with a pinch of salt.

Soos Naas s: "Aan die einde van die dag.." is hulle maar net verkoopsmanne.

    Besluit self.

General Grabbers is uitstekend. Ook Pirelli Scorpions.

I had BF ATs but the old ones. Those ones went hard and slid in the wet. The new ones could have improved

No way will you get 100,000kms out of Coopers. Not the AT3 that's for sure.

Just keep in mind, if the BFG's give the claimed mileage of +-100k, then you will be driving them for 12 years based on the mileage you did in 4 years on the duellers!

That tyre brand was not mentioned. I do not drive a lot with my Jimny, so the decision will be on the brand that won't go hard as quick as the Bridgestones.

    Not quite.

Tyres needs to be replaced after 5 years FROM YEAR OF MANUFACTURE to be legal regardless of tread left.

    Bridgestone Duellers...

    Haha, never again

23 000km on my Fortuner and they were toast. And Bridgestone pulled up their shoulders and said it's the roads we drive on

Funny how the next tyres, Hankook Dynapro, has now lasted over 60 000km on the same vehicle with the same driver on the same roads...

ALL they had to do was say "Sorry you had a bad experience, here's a new set of tyres to make up for it".

But no, it was "user abuse" and then they refuse to discuss it any further. Thanks Guthrie Blaine

They will never see my money again. Never.

I only hear good things about the Hankook Dynapro. Will definitely consider it next time I need tyres.

Bought my 2016 Fortuner new with Duellers. Alignment and rotation done every 8 000km, 90% highway driving but I had to have two replaced at 20 000km but decided to change all four as the thread was nearly gone, sidewalls started to "flake" and handling was really bad in the rain. I might have gotten a bad batch, but not ever going back to Duellers again.

Buddy of mine did 100,000km on Duellers on his Fortuner and had at least 10,000km left on them!! NOT EVEN ONE PUNCTURE!! The tyre salesmen when he replaced them, could not believe it! He then fitted something else, but sold the Fortuner before he had done 10,000km on the new tyres!

I do not know how he did that, I can only get about 70,000km out of my Duellers. I absolutely love Duellers, never lost one in of the three sets on 2 vehicles. I've had one puncture, but I must admit, I have never been on really bad stoney roads with them.

On my last Namibia trip in February this year, with my Patrol, I lost 4 Goodyear MTRs (265/70 x 17) in two days on the rock strewn roads between Opuwo and Sesfontein area. One was the spare, and it was brand new, so it really hurt (at over R5800 each)! Did about 30 km back to Opuwo with one whose sidewall looked like crinkle cut chips after driving it flat for a while before noticing it was going flat. Put 3 plugs in it and it held air. I had no option as I had no spare left at the time. I made it to Opuwo travelling at 40 kph for those 40kms.

I was lucky and managed to get two Federal Couragia MTRs, the only 2 tyres in town that were the correct size! It was 3 down at that stage. I had to settle for a second hand Pirelli 265/65 x 17 as a spare! It was only when I got home that I saw inner sidewall of the one two front Goodyear tyres had a patch of about 50mm x 50mm that a piece of the sidewall rubber was missing and the canvas was showing and I had presumably done 2000km like that! So I lost 3 Goodyear tyres on the rear and one on the front.

I never had anything but good service out of my Bridgestones (both on my vehicle and on the trailer) travelling on Safari in Botswana and Zimbabwe, so the loss of these 4 tyres really came as a shock to me!

3 out of 4 bridgestone duellers out of round after less than 20k.

To be fair they gave me a 80% refund.

But not a fan after that.
