Avian flu won't have much of an impact: as far as I know, most of Moz's chicken comes from Brazil

Ongelukkig nie. "The ban, which take immediate effect, covers live cattle, pigs, goats and sheep, and meat and by-products from these animals".

Unfortunately Botswana and Namibia will probably rapidly follow suite, if not already the case.

Most poultry come from SA. They also have a budding poultry industry which they wish to protect.

I see the ban excludes pasteurised productssuch as milk, cheese, yogurt or cream, and also excludes heat-processedproducts such as canned meats.

"Heat processed" ...I suppose it means cooked meat such as cold meats, sausages and smoked spare ribs should be OK?

In Komati the Mozambiqueans buy tons of meat including Russian sausages its such big parcels you cannot miss it. Know of somebody that stay there went over last Sunday with more than R4000.00 worth of meat. Your guess is as good as mine.

I just saw on the DRIVEMOZ page that the meat ban has been lifted. Does any body have official confirmation of this.

    Hi,
This is from the Drive Moz facebook group " Meat ban has been lifted, but still not allowed to import from Limpopo province, but can from anywhere else in SA, Malawi or Zimbabwe."
You should consider joining this group as there is a lot of information on traveling in Moz
