There you go. You will have to turn up the sound to hear properly. I only heard that it wasnt as clear as i wanted it after I took it in.
You also only really hear it on acceleration.

How much oil does this gearbox take? 1.7l or more?

    Slight Update.

It confused the hell out of me that the gearbox heat was inconsistent. Somedays it would cook and other days I could spend 20mins on the freeway and it'd stay cool.

I realised, it's if the windows are down!!! If the windows are down the heat streams in from the shifter area. If I leave the windows up, it'll not get hot, and even cool down if not too hot already! So it's obviously the windows being down causing a "low pressure" in the cab and sucking hot air up through the shifter area!!!

Now this got me thinking.....the gear box sits right below the shifter hole and transfer case shifter area. Surely, even without the vacuum effect, that area would get hot from heat radiating up to the tub if the gearbox was getting that hot? If I leave the windows up, that area stays perfectly cool. Can stick my hand down in the gap for the TC shifter and it's cool. Only once I open the windows does that whole area get hot.

I am thinking now maybe it is actually heat from the CAT being sucked in, and not necessarily the gearbox! I think it's time to chop that big cat out.

    Stu.
