I am unsure of camping at Pilgrims Rest but the little town was quite run down on my last visit there. It may be an idea for you to camp elsewhere such as at Graskop or Sabie as they are not far from Pilgrims and you can then go to Pilgrims for a day visit.

Do not camp there. Rather camp at Panorama rusoord in Graskop.

I didn't notice any camping there when we were there in December. Best is to go to a Forever Resort close by or as mentioned in Sabie or Graskop.

Stay away. Pilgrims Rest is a dump and you'll be robbed and killed.

Its actually quite sad. There is what looks like it used to be a great campsite in town... used to be... I would not stay there! No way, no how!

Yip...sadly it's become an absolute dump !! Rather rewatch the "Jock Of The Bushveld" movie...still one of my favorites.

We had lunch in Pilgrims earlier this year - the town is definately NOT what it used to be. If you have been in the past I would not bother going back.

We also drove down to and through the campsite - I would not stay there. The place looks run down and not a person in sight, there wasn't even anyone at the gate. Grass is long and the buildings look terrible and run down.

Panorama in Graskop is great, Merry Pebbles as well.

Caravan park next to Merry Pebbles is Castle Rock, rather use Sabie river camp (than castle rock).
Castle rock is a municipal managed campsite, thus quite run down and neglected. (as anything the local anc municipality touches...)
