I would easily discard the belt driven fan and replace with a high quality electric fan driven off a thermal switch. The electric fan will easily fit in front of the radiator and make lots of space available in the engine bay.

And when you are somewhere between pofadder and nowhere, that electric fan decides to pack up, or because of driving door deepinto a river crossing it stops working, you cant go anywhere and have a motor overheating.. No thanks.. Also thoought of electric fans..

Hi all, I am looking at replacing the shocks.

I am looking at the Gabriel Safari HDP shocks. From the part catalog, I see that it is not listed for the SJ. But it is Listed for the Jimny..
Now my question is, will it work on the sj without mods.
And if I need to do a mod. What do i need to do..

You need Gert to chip in with the part number, he got HDP's for his Gypsy so they'll fit the SJ

Do your shackle lift first and then work out the compressed and extended length for the shock you need before you go and buy them.....

Managed to find a set of shocks that will work correctly..
Will place order next week sometime..

For now, the engine build needs to be completed and motor needs to start.. That will happen probably in the next 2 weeks, if we lucky.. As i need to get a wiring diagram still lf the chana ecu and harness.

Then the body work, ect will start.

    Small Build update :

So, we have misplaced the injector plugs for the g16 intake and injector Rails.. And after completely re orgenizing the garage / workshop found it after 4 weeks of searching. Hehe..

Wiring harness needed to be rerouted from it'a original placing so took it apart and put it back again with the g16 injector plugs also attached now.
Part 1 of the wiring harness complete.

    Parts Update :
    Ordered some gabriel Shocks.

Gabriel shock part numbers that I have ordered :

    Shocks op die SJ:

    Rear = G45006 Gabriel safari
    Front = G56158 Gabriel safari

And after seeing a photo of a jimny dash in a sj, decided to give that a go as well..
And recieved a donor dash to give it a try..
It is only the bare dash for now. And will get all the rest of it once test fitment and cutting it is complete.

I would really like to know who this person is that did this to his Sj, as I would like to get some tips..

That dash idea looks quite good.
In the pic of the modded SJ it looks to sit very low... would look to mount it higher up

    Is the motor running yet?
Very keen to hear how she goes

Ye, it might be to get the bottom plastics fitted, but I will not be doing that..

Motor is done, busy with the electronics to it. Have not started yet.

If it was my vehicle, I would not do it. It takes away the character of the vehicle. Then a chines knock off vehicle would carry more re-sale value.

Not really bothered about resale value of this car.

Also found out that the sj410 indicator and light switches ect is to old for the new harness ect that i am putting in, so the Jimny dash retro fit will be required.

Busy with the research of the requirments to fit it all..

Did a bit of research, on fitting the jimny dash.

And managed to source all the rest of the parts to it. And also figured out how to get the electronic speedo to work.
Some parts will need to be manufactured for it, but it is no biggy, already have it in the works.

    Parts Update :
    - Have the complete shell for the dash that will need modifications to make it fit.
    - Also have the full interior harness for the dash.
    - Heater and fan box
    - Steeringwheel with steering shaft.
    - indicator and Light Switches
    - ignition and the key that pairs with it.
    - front face basel
    - glove box.

Will need to figure out how to bypass the transponder between the key and ignition. As well..

Don't stop at just the dashboard, have you thought about putting a Lexis V8 in there??

Awesome thread though, thanks for posting updates.
