    Default After market fitment

    Good morning,

    I am thinking of fitting some kit to facilitate touring and 4x4 on a new Fortuner 2.8 GD-6 4x4.

    I was thinking of the following:

    • front bumper with jack point and place for a winch;
    • Rear bumper with TB and spare wheel holder;
    • Bash plate;
    • Side bars that don't trap water when doing a river crossing in a strong stream;
    • Extra fuel tank;
    • Perhaps a dual battery system;
    • Compressor - loose or fitted;
    • Tyre pressure monitor kit;
    • iPhone WL connectivity kit.

    I'm a lightweight / fair weather camper, so don't have roof tents, camper trailer etc.

    Any recommendations from the experienced travelers regarding sensible after market kit? Item and brand.

    Any recommendations regarding fitment centres in the Cape Town, Paarl, Stellenbosch area?

    Thank you,
    Bob

    Apart from the compressor, you don't "need" any of the items on your list, to start camping/touring/overlanding. I'm a fan of modifying once I have discovered a need. That way your mods will be functional to your requirements.
    I would start by buying a shovel. Then phone Uys and get a proper bashplate. After this, add as required.

    On the other hand, you may also "want" more stuff. In this case, just buy everything. In this case, phone Mark at Maniac4x4. He'll sort you out. He's in Montague Gardens.

    I agree with dph. Sounds more like you want the stuff than need it
    Rather fit a roof rack where you can keep spare wheel extra diesel etc.

    You don't need half the stuff in your list based on your own admission.
