    Default AmadaXtreme Frankenstein "Jeep" Build

After a long upstairs debate I have sold my JK Rubicon......

So got myself a real project Frankenstein "jeep" to rebuild and play with...

Chassis: It is based on a Nissan Safari
    Front Suspension: Leaf Springs
    Rear Suspension: Leaf Springs
Steering: Steering box with old school link system
Diffs: Open Diffs - std Safari
    Motor: Lexus V8 1UZ
    Gearbox: Auto
Body: LWB CJ Fibre glass body
    Wiring: A real mess
    Tyres: 33 x 12.5 x 15

Many ideas at this stage... but lets see where this is going to take us....

Consider moving this to either the Nissan or Toyota subsection before Apoc sees this thread.

Well besides the grill and the engine and the chassis it does somehow resemble a JEEP, so I recon it will be welcome here.
Best of luck with the build and keep the pictures coming.

    Plan this far as follow...

    • Remove front and rear diffs
    • Remove leaf springs and cut off all brackets for the leaf springs
    • Design long arm suspension for front and rear with preferable coil over suspension

Busy with the rear suspension... decided to go for a A-Frame Link Suspension on the back... some google pics to show what the plan is with some progress pictures of the Links we are busy with.
Only small hick-up, for the A-frame the mounting point needs to be in the middle of the axle but this rear axle the pampoen is not in the middle, plan to manufacture a bracket to mount the A-frame on top and in the middle of the axle,

In Afrikaans het ons die gesegde die " Beste struurman staan op die wal"

Please do not see this as negative comment. With all the trouble in manufacturing the A-frame I would have opted for a four link suspension. A frames tend to snap the attachment to the diff with side way forces.

The little Patrol have the same suspension layout as your Jeep, You will be surprised in the level of flex we have achieved with leafs, traction bar and SOA setup. I will stick my neck out and say that that level of flex can only be surpassed with long arms and coil overs.

    Just my humble opinion.
It is not what you buy its what you build.

Thanks for the comments, I like getting as much as possible ideas from different areas,
I agree with you, there is nothing wrong with leaf spring's flex if done correctly. The old leaf springs are bend and beyond repair and wanted to build something different.

We going to give the A-frame some extra support, didnt want to go the 4 -link system as there are many such systems out there - and have done that before,

Now thats how I like to see, you busy.

Nice build. Please just do something about that grill...

Let me know what you looking at for the electrics, as I have to redo mine entirely also and there's some nice harnassing kit on ebay that could suit you.

BTW> I got my steering stabilizer sorted with a bracket I welded up and it works quite nicely.
