Dit was so `n vinnige 500km trippie.

I think in the lomg run the V6 will be the cheapest to run. I might be wrong. Doing my own services which I think is cheap on the Cruisers. Comparing them with the cost of other vehicles I own and have owned. Think it is cheaper to run than a Volla bus.

I have done the dreaded wheel bearing service. Really cannot see why this should be done every 40k km. Replaced them with new bearings and total Ceran HV grease. I cannot see any reason why not to do them again for at least the next 100k km.

On average the v8 does 7km/l town driving included while the v6 in the same conditions about 5.5km/l. The v6 engines are bullet proof and only need a new water pump at 200k km. I think that once you need to do the injectors on the v8 the savings on the fuel bill will be whipped out.

Really like the v8 with loads of low down grunt. You can stick it in any gear and go.

Ok I do not say much on performance stuff lately. As said from the first day I investigated the V8 Cruisers intake system that there is huge improvements that one can done.

So I have done a little port matching, stick a pencil grinder into some places. Also some other little stuff.

Never had a chance to run a proper test on consumption.

I am in Upington for a few days so did a steady run at 120km/h yesterday. Very satisfied with the 8.49km/l it turned out. Will run a test again on the return trip.

Last weekend saw me doing close to 1900km in these two uncomfortable vehicles. 500km in the 79 and the rest in the 76. Had a marathon run on Saturday in the 76. Left at six in the morning and were back home at 7:30 in the afternoon. Yes I am still alive

Loving the Cruisers more and more.

Did the Donkerpoort trail again this weekend. 76 pleasantly surprised me with its crawling ability. We did a rocky section on the trail that I have not done in the past. Some unexpected challenges. The low down torque of the big diesel v8 let me crawl up at 750 idle rpm.

Think Donkerpoort should be on every serious 4x4`ers list. Ernie and Mariska the trail owners are of the best hosts around.
    Nice weekend with nice people.

First Community GTG at Gariep had some members driving the Donkerpoort trail.
