What do the Cruiser guys do about rims. Looking for a nice set of steel wheels.
Rims for the Cruisers seems quite scarce.

Christo in your position I'll look around for and only fit the steel rims from the 105 Cruiser SW. They will be expensive, but they look OK, fit properly and are very strong.

Ok so we still have not sold the Volla Bus. Now remember this is Swambo`s favourite of all favourites.

Kept a close eye on her moves this past week. Seems the Cruiser has become the favourite of all favourites.

Sy sÍ hy ry so maklik, sy kan selfs in 2de rat weg trek.

That was one thing I hated about the Volla bus you needed to work that gearlever. Think I have the record in our household for stalling it.

Yes on paper many smaller diesels beat the 4.5 D4D with power and torque. I also think that very few smaller diesels will beat the 4.5 D4D with idle and off idle torque. My engine torque test is to stick it in fourth gear at idle speed and than accelerate. Very easy with the Yank v8`s. Well the Cruiser past this test.

Few small things on the Cruiser that bothers me but I will sort that with time. First on my do list were rear wheel spacers, I could not stand that knock knee look. That caught my eye every time I look at the Cruiser.
I also do not like the unprotected ABS sensors, the low mounted alternator and the position of the oil pressure sensor under the engine. As said earlier in this thread it is not going to see serious off roading but we travel on nasty little twee spoor paadjies from time to time. I have seen what a little driedoring on a middle mannetjie can do to wiring. Plan to protect above mentioned items.

The following items I felt should have been standard items on the Cruiser. 12v socket at the rear. Towbar as standard. Better center console. Correction of rear wheel tract width. I am sure the narrower rear track is the problem for the jittery feeling at speed on gravel.

I have included an ONCA front bumper in the deal which will arrive this coming week. O ja and when parked next to the Yank Ranger the Cruiser is a Platkar.

Find myself playing with gear ratio calculators on more and more occasions.

Even find some nice speedo correction devices.

    Ratio changes, overdrives, bigger tires.

You get down to crazy costs per 100 rpm.

    Standard 5th gear rpm at 120 = 2717

Advance Adaptors Overdrive you will run a cool 1960rpm at 120km/h. At least you will have 10 forward gears in high range R22 000.00 before import duties. Few mods and you can add another R10 000.00
About R40 000.00 plus to shave off 757 rpm.

Marks 4x4 Overdrive R82000.00 before duties. Will give you ten speed and a 2024 in 5th gear @120.

285x75x16 Will keep it happy at 2619rpm a 100rpm gain over stock.

    33X 16 will see you at 2600rpm at 120.

35x 16 cannot be done without a lift in my humble opinion. 2457 at 120.

Speedo correction interface R2030.00 before duties.

Diff ratio change to 3.55 land you with 2473rpm at 120. You will need to fork out R40 000.00.

Does not matter which way you look it will be costly. In person I would love the Advance Adaptors overdrive as I have a similar unit in the Yank Ranger and you double all your choices.

But then it will take many many km`s to kill the costs of these conversion with consumption gains alone.

Maybe 33`s and speedo correction the cheapest and easiest way to go.

Ek is baie gelikig met my Cruiser, hy doen alles wat ek van hom vra baie makliker as my 3.0 D4D of 4.2 1HZ ooit kon doen.
