I believe they are quite scarce.
Why not buy a normal one and have it converted? I've heard there is a company that does it for something like R 150 000.

Does anyone know where one could find a used Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 to convert into a camper? Preferrably a high roof with 5t GVM (long wheelbase) model.

I'd rather find an Iveco Daily 4x4 crewcab and put a camper body on the back.

Stay away from a Sprinter. Buy an Iveco. Sold my Sprinter few years ago. Must be the most problematic vehicle I have ever owned.
No a few guys with the same fate. If not close to Dealers that becomes even harder. Had to send the Sprinter in limp mode to Upington on two occasions. not fun driving 60km/h.
It is not what you buy its what you build.
