Default Ranger t6 2014 3.2 white smoke cold

    Hello,
Having some troubles in the morning during cold starts with my Ranger with 36.000 km. Starts and idles with no problem. As I accelarate up to 1500 RPM the the whole truck shakes and refuses to accelerate normally as if I was drowning the engine and a lot of white smoke. Goes away for the rest of the day after driving 200 M. Took it in to a dealer, they cleaned DPF, changed a fuel pressure sensor, checked for codes, etc. Problem not solved. Now they want to change some temp sensor...
No coolant in the oil and no oil in the cooling system. Don´t think that the inyectors are leaking fuel because then it would be an immediate problem when starting the truck.
Does anyone had the same problem with the same truck? Any solution?
    Regards

Diesel particulate filter, basically what they do is per computer rev the engine up for a few minutes to burn all the residue out ouf the DPF . Driving at steady high speeds also enables this function.

Why "clean" the DPF but not the MAP and MAF sensors?

There is NO dpf on the pre facelift ranger in southern africa. None. Especially not the 2014.

There is a ceramic honeycomb car on some models. Thats it.

Good question, usually the DPF gets clogged easily. But if those two sensors were dirty or would have any malfunction, shouldn´t be the smoke problem a permanent thing, even when the engine is up to operating temperature?

Hi Pierre I believe you, but why does the small extra booklet that Lazarus in PTA gave me with my 2014 truck state that you must increase rpm to 3000 for 30 seconds once a week? When I initially questioned the workshop manager about this, he said it's "to clean the system" - which I took as being the DPF? The CAT does not require regen ...

I doubt you even have one. The only rangers that came with cats in 2014 were the real odesseys meant for australia (so, the ones that were on special)

You clean the cat the same way.

The egr valve does not operate pass 2000 rpm, thus, the egt increases, and heats up the ceramic, burning off the soot.

Look behind your ***driver*** side front wheel. If there is a cannister like part on the exaust, you have a cat.

Thank you, did not know that!

My truck's exhaust is on the driver side .... I will have a good look tomorrow and also check the workshop manual to try to ID the cat ... I do somehow think that I have a cat, I sometimes seem to get that smell faintly when I turn off the truck. On the wife's CX3 you can definitely smell the cat. Speaking of the CX3 (petrol), there is no instructions anywhere to run the engine at higher RPM to clean it, so how does such a car keep the cat clean?

PS: just for interest, what is the physical effect if the cat is not cleaned?

    Yeah. Correction. Driver side...

A dirty cat, is the same as a blocked exaust...

    Turbo is leaking oil.

Oh I hope not. I am checking the oil level constantly and haven´t noticed any drop in oil level.

    Thank you!

Jip, I have a fairly large canister high up in the exhaust followed by a smaller one ... according to the workshop manual the larger one is the cat and the smaller one the "exhaust flexible pipe". I see that the DPF is situated much further down the exhaust (sort of underneath the right side back seat) and should be very easy to spot - I definitely do not have a DPF.

    Learned so much again
