Info on special campsites in Serengeti.

Can you please check those coordinates for Kogatende campsite? As those given are actually somewhere near Mount Elgon, near the border between Uganda and Kenya.

Also, can you please tell when you were at Lobo. Is the described situation from recent times?

Hmm - odd - I've checked and find 1°33'37.2"S 34°52'56.2"E / -1.560328, 34.882270 .

Thanks for pointing out the mistake (no idea why - operator incompetence I imagine).

We were at Lobo in 2017 so not recently, and it may be better since I assume that the number of "overland tour" visitors is less right now.

I find the coordinates put into Google Earth take me to the Mara River just near Kogatende airstrip. I zoomed there in a nanosecond - a great way to travel!

Ah, now I see why. The coordinates in the first post were lacking the minus sign for latitude! Hence, it was pointing good 3 degres to the north, near Mount Elgon.

Now, the correct coordinates indeed point directly at the Kogatende.
