Default 2000 Pajero Gen3 Vibration problem help needed

Hi all. Have been searching threads for solution to this hope there is someone who can help.
2000 Gen3 pajero 3.5 v6 has a constant vibration throughout the body above 100kmph, changes slightly when you accelerate or leave the gas pedal but never stops the vibration. Only changes the resonating it cuases.
Wheel alignment and balancing has beed done. Swapped out tyres, Complete new propshaft front and back.
Only options left I can think of are Engine and gearbox mounts. Maybe wheel bearings or cv's
Any help or advice would be appreciated

    Hi Boerop
Had exactly that same issue for years. Replaced everything including diff etc. Turned out to be the rear diff mounting bushes that it hangs on.
The other thing that also add to that is the rear trailing arm bush that is in the hub.
Start there first. Let us know the outcome.

    Hi,
This mounting, whatever it might be called, i thing a prop-shaft noise damper, also play a mayor role. Mine was bended and it caused a terrible vibration at any speed. Once pressed back into original shape, the vibration is gone.

I played with the dampners and it made no difference. But then again mine were not damaged.

I replaced old tyres, repaired my front suspension and played with the damper. Made no difference.
Oil seems to be coming from the gearbox.
Mechanic gave me an option to change engine and gearbox to a lexus 4.0L.
    Gave me a price I can't refuse.
Now I have to choose between VVTI wiyh 5 speed box or the non VVTI with 4 speed gearbox.

    you're CRAZY

get a second opinion on a gearbox rebuild

If that guy can do a decent Lexus V8 conversion for under R80k then I'd be VERY surprised.

He has done about 40 conversions.
I have spomen to people who did it with him, no one had any complaints.
Took my gearbox to a gearbox centre. They want R2000 for the diagnosis. They did tell me from what I told them about the vibration it might be the torque converter. (R12000 plus) My motor is also using about 0.5l of oil a week.
He will charge me R45000 for the conversion, but keep my current engine and gearbox

How much is "a price I can't refuse"?

I am one for keeping things original. Lexus V8's are nice IF done correctly by a experienced guy - but they dont come cheap. A friend of mine sold his fairly new Mazda bakkie at a loss, just to get rid of it after having a Lexus V8 conversion done. They butchered his bakkie, I cant believe nobody has assaulted that mechanic. Think carefully.

You pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Call Mitsi Tech - I have seen only good things about them - dnt know them and never used them before, but they seem above board.

And does he guarantee that the vibration will be gone?

It is a very expensive, road of no return that you want to try AND your car will be worth nothing with an engine transplant.

Rather get your car to a Pajero specialist(like Arnold) who know these cars back to front.

    R45k?

Sell yours as parts or scrap and add R45k to buy another pajero in working order.

    Hi,

Give my dad a call. He recently did some major work for a Pajero GEN3 (shorty) for another forum member in Pretoria. Chances are it's not as expensive as your first suggestion. He's an old school qualified mechanic, have done many engine rebuild, gearbox rebuilds and also customizations like Lexus Conversions.

His number is 073 853 7317 and it's close to you
