The R4999 price has reared its head quite a few times already. I bought mine last year for that price after missing a few of the previous specials.

Takealot area logistics company, nothing more. The warrantee and service elements reside with Dometic.

I’ve got the 25l and just bought the 50l, very happy with them. They live in the car for day trips and the longer stuff, my NL 90 lives in the trailer.

They have a 3 year warranty - Dometic will honour that. No reason for them not to.

And its back on special at R4999 again I see

I'm very keen to get one as I don't have much space in the back of the FJ and this seems to fit in my drawer system.

Quick question to any current owners-does it have any mounting holes on the bottom of the unit to connect to a slide? Ideally I don't want to strap the handles as they are quite bulky and take up a fair whack of space.

    Any suggestions would be welcome

    thanks

    Liam

    Hi Liam

So far as I can tell, no there are not mounting holes on the bottom. There are little plastic feet, perhaps they come out in some way which I cannot see now.

The cover does have some points where you could tie down, but not sure they will be solid for real rough stuff.

Recommended one of these to a friend as I enjoy mine a lot and he is also waiting for the special, but when I go on takealot the price is R6,999 which is weird, please send the link if possible

I also looked into a strapdown method without the bulky handles, not sure if there are holes in the bottom, will have a look when I can (will only be tonight though). The only solution I could think of is to get something like these https://www.amazon.ca/Highland-91520.../dp/B0002MAC0O

If the two holes don't tie up you can get single fixing anchors and just put two on

But for the price there really aren't anything else to compare, unless you can find something decent 2nd hand

Due to limited space inside my vehicle I dont use the handles that came with my fridge.
I bought a short length of car safety belt from the nearby materials factory shop and cut two pieces for handles which I attached to the fridge using the screws supplied but adding biggish washers to prevent tearing.
I did however burn the ends of the belts as well as the holes for the screws with my soldering iron to prevent unraveling(?).
Works 100% as tiedowns without taking up a lot of space.

There are no other mount points or holes in the bottom of the fridge. I'd advise making up mount brackets or tie-down points that attach into the holes for the standard handles. From what I've seen those are the only "hard points" on the fridge.

The insulation cover that comes in the package has tie down loops.....not too strong I would imagine but they work.

I am not that clever, I also have the problem of the handles making the overall length too long for my slider. The rear handle hits my water tank. I went to Gelmar and matched up the threads with a bolt with a plastic head on. Works very well.
