Default Trans Africa 2018 - couple from Poland with Nissan Patrol

    Hey,

My name is Dominika (age 29) and I'm Polish. Together with my husband (age 37) we're preparing our travel to Africa by our Nissan Patrol. Travel in the initial planning phase. Departure: end of 2018.
The plan is to drive through Europe to Morocco and then Sahara, Mauritania, continue towards Ethiopia and south to RPA by Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia. The return journey or overland to Djibouti, then ferry and on wheels back home or car container from RPA and we would go by plane.
Other option is travelling only on East side of Africa (Ethiopia-RPA-back).

Duration of the journey: we assume at least 6-12 months.

We are looking for fellow travelers who would like to join us with their additional car for the entire trip or a part of it.
On our website you can see some of our travels www.GrupaWschodu.pl.

Hopefully I can find here some nice travellers who will join us in our travel!
    Dominika

Dominika, welcome and enjoy your trip. Please update your travels on this forum as you proceed, there will be a lot of interest. I am particularly interested in how you plan to travel from Mauritania to Ethiopia, which by all accounts is not straight forward at all.

As you proceed further south and east you will find increasing relevant information on this forum. Ask if need be, people are happy to help.

Hi Stan! Thanks for nice "welcoming" me!Indeed as I mentioned I'm in the early process of planning the journey. I heard there's a group of people who plan to hire a "soldiers security" which will help in transit through Chwad and Nigeria. As far as I know those countries are only possible way to Ethiopia for now. But I'm aware this is not simple nor safe or cheap so if it won't be possible to hire this security and go together with some group then we won't risk and just take the route through the East part of Africa.Stan could you please recommend in which part of forum I should add this kind of announcement that I'm loking for companion? I see many places to ask concrete questions about some countries in Africa (which is exciting - finally I found nice forum!) but I'm not sure which placeI'll appreciate your help Dominika

I would also place it in the general "Overland advice, reports etc" section.

If you coming to Djibouti, bring snorkeling kit, and scuba kit if you dive. The diving here is fantastic!!! Also, Nissan Patrol's outnumber everything here. I've never seen so many Patrols! Sounds like it's going to be an awesome trip!

Hi and welcome to the forum! As Stan says, it is very difficult, if not impossible to currently cross from west to east Africa other than in southern Africa. There's a wealth of knowledge on this forum about Southern and East Africa - for West and North Africa, you can also try the HUBB - http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/regional-forums/
