People like this this should be banned from the bush.
Sheer disrespect for our wildlife or the environment.

Thanks for sharing your lessons learned online making people aware off the danger in the bush and that some situations looks peaceful but might be life threatening.
I am sure that you have learned it the hard way as yes indeed you almost lost your life there.
A giraffe will kill you with that kick.

I do not understand the negative approach from the other member there are many unexperienced people in the bush and you are sharing your lessons learned for them, which is a good thing.

Thanks and for the future keep distance, wild animals do not like people to be near them. I am sure that your wife like to spend more time with you ;-)

Thanks for sharing your video, I suppose others may learn from it. I have to agree with some of the sentiments expressed by other members. You really shouldn't get so close to animals that they feel threatened. I refuse to believe you didn't know this already, so why did you do it? Did you want this kind of a reaction from the giraffe, or was it just an ego thing to try and get a better photo/video?

Either way, next time you may not be so lucky... Be careful

It would have been VERY sad if the animal hurt the human, and then "had to" be put down ....

I dont know the circumstances, and wont be insulting the person, but PLEASE people give animals their space and dont endanger the animals life. Way too many animals have been put down after hurting a human ....

Guys seriously relax. Im fine, the giraffe is fine. It came right up to us in the camp and I figured I would show people how big it really is. She was very relaxed the whole time and let me touch her before. she id known to be around there all the time. Its part of a series that we shot, wanting to show people how beautiful it is in Africa.

And as for the getting stuck. There is a much longer back story to it. the water is actually not that deep and would have been a easy cross but the car who went through before me got stuck and spun two big wholes in the river bed which what I fell into with my back wheels. but it was fun either way. Experiences is worth more than money. So get out there and make your own mistakes. learn, grow, enjoy. Here is one of our wildlife only clips if you want to see some of the most beautiful wildlife in Botswana.

Thanks for sharing. I reckon you should put your name in the hat for next Springbok coach. You could teach them a thing or two about side stepping.

The only mistake you made was posting it on the forum.

    Quite so.

When an animal of its own free will, just walks into camp like that, I don't think it's beyond the realms of reasonableness to assume it is used to or even seeking human company.

And walking a water crossing is no guarantee that you won't get stuck.

It just shows you have to be careful in the bush. Animals may seem cute, but most of them are capable of doing serious harm to you.

Here is a clip from our trip to Botswana last yeat. Shot in Linyanti.
