I added mine close to the firewall inside the cabin just to keep the resistor and connections away from the elements.
It's a bit hard to take a photo there but it's as per the diagrams you find on the oz forums. I included a switch in mine so I can switch back to normal if I want to.

Here it is just after the air filter on the 07 Pajero, the blue /black wire is the one and the signal only affects the egr, you need to establish that this is the same for your model.Name: IMG_3477.JPG

If the egr valve is already gunked up it may be stuck partially open. Then the resistor mod doesn't help.

I prefer the mechanical blank. Its easy to do and cost next to nothing.

    My 2c.......
I also did the plate on my 2012 3.2 PJS......
Thought to be a 10 minute job... ended up, battling my @@@ off.... Make sure the the holes in the plate is big enough.
When you put the plate on the EGR pipe on the exhaust side.... Problems as follows: Not enough space to work, couldn't hold the blanking plate & washer in place, put the pipe back...
I ended up putting the blanking plate on the other side of the EGR pipe, where it goes into the EGR cooler...

    Ok... I'm not a mech.....

I did the resistor mod but used the port on the exhaust manifold for an EGT probe. So I blanked that, the cooler and I think I might have put one on the input of the EGR valve itself. I made an imprint with the flange from the pipe going to the cooler and got the blanking flanges laser cut.
In my head I didn't know which is the lesser evil.
    1. Having the valve operating and the ECU thinking the engine is receiving EGR flow when it is not, or
    2. Fooling temp sensor1 into thinking it is too cold to use EGR. There is a second temp sensor that's used for the fueling.

Seems people haven't had many troubles with either, maybe a few people getting codes with the blanking plate. I think a few of the Oz guys have done close to 200 000km with the resistor and I'm sure many have done similar with the blanks.

Hi, just fitted 2 egr blanking plates now on a 2010 pajero sport.
Thanks for the tip on using the scaper.
The pipe between cooler and egr valve was almost completely blocked with soot.
    No errors on dashboard.
Will test drive tomorrow to check if any difference.
At least i have ease of mind that no dirty exhaust fumes going into combustion chambers.
    Some pics attached.
