Default ENGINE CODE P0382: Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "B"

    Hi Guys

Just had the engine light come on this morning. OBD2 code read. P0382: Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "B"

Any idea where to look first. Fuse is ok. I suspect either relay or so.
Could a fault glow plug also cause this code to come up.
Engine is Hover 2.5 TCI. 117 000 kms on.

First test if there is power going to the glow plugs. If not then trace back to fuse and relay.
If there is power then you must test the glow plugs individually. Remember that glow plugs that don't glow, will carbon up to such a extend that they stuck to the c/head and will brake off when you try to undo them.

    So I've checked everything.
    Fuse OK
Relay OK - replaced it with another relay and made not difference/
Power to the glow plugs - OK.

Only thing now is to replace the glow plugs.
My question is if a faulty glow plug could bring up this error code still?

With the gwm, you dont have to waste time.

A glow plug error is a glow plug error.

Get the gwm ones. The ones from autozone don't work well

Out of pure curiosity, what is the price of the glow plugs.

And also, if the glow plug is faulty, would your car still start?

Cast starts no problem, especially common rail diesels don't really have a problem in our SA weather.
Its the older diesels that struggles to start in the cold without glow plugs.

R780 later (eeekkk!) and the glow plugs replaced. Issue sorted. Why did I not just do this first time around. Instead I went all complicated and looked at other causes first.

Well issue sorted, engine light off and all ok.

So after replacing the glow plugs the engine light stayed off...until today. It's back on again and with the exact same error code.
Seems the new glow plugs only helped for a little while.
Note these are the GWM glow plugs and not the Midas version.

I'm at a loss now. Relay checked out fine. Fuse still ok, I cant find an issue on the wiring.
Could it be that one of the glow plugs is a dud?
Or is there somewhere esle I need to look?

Higgins where did you get the glow plugs from? Dealers are quoting me R323 excl vat each and the other places can't find a ngk equivalent. MPD for some reason quoted more than the dealers, but no stock

Got them from MPD in Roodepoort. Was R780 for all 4. Had stock. No issues.

No code has to be inserted here.

Are you using the GWM glow plugs or the ones you get from Midas/ Autozone. You must use the GWM ones as the computer doesn't like the ones you get from Midas/Autozone

Have you checked the glow plug relay? Test it by swapping it out with one of the other same relays and see if the engine light still comes on.
Either that or a wire to one of the glow plugs has a loose connection.

Gwm plugs. Where does the glowplug relay sits? Next to the batery or is it a small box at the firewall? I hear it clicks near the firewall next to the 4x4 booster

If the same as mine, it should be in the fuse box next to the battery.

So the Glow Plug/Heater Circuit B error code is back on again. Glow Plugs only 5 moths old. I cant think that the glow plugs could give problems again.
I am now at a loss as to what the problem could be.
    What is have checked.

    - replaced relay.
    - replaced fuse.
    - tested and there is low resistance on all 4 glow plugs meaning that they should all be fine.
    - tested wiring and there is current to all 4 glow plugs when turning on the ignition so wiring should be fine.

Not sure what else is there to look at besides the glow plugs, wiring, relay and fuses.
The only solution I can think off is to replace the glow plugs again. But the current ones test fine on resistance and I also have no problem with starting the cold engine. Everything seems to work just fine.

Could it be that one of the plugs I installed 5 months ago is dodgy?
Is there some other control unit that I perhaps need to look at?

    Any ideas?

Please dont qoute me on this as it was my personal experience.
Had the exact problem and tested glowplugs and found the faulty one and replaced it just to have the light to come on again later note it was a gwm glowplug i replaced with a gwm glowplug.
I set out to find a replacement and found that there are similarities between the glowplugs on the gwm2.5tci and the isuzu kb250 glowplugs took a sample to my parts guy and compared them measured them as they almost looked exactly the same only differences was the isuzu plugs had thread that went higher towards where the wire should connect.
Bought 4 NGK glowplugs for isuzu and my problem was solved and mill light hasn't been on yet and its been nearly 8 months down the line.
Please note this was my solution and not in any way saying this is what you must try to solve the problem at hand.
